Inscription. A native of Rhenish Bavaria, Henry Kaysing settled in Belleville in 1834. After careers as a butcher and a flour and feed store owner he retired in 1868 and constructed this two-story building as a rental. From the 1870s to the 1890s it housed Bernhard Strohmberg and Son's grocery on the first floor. The second floor was residential. Kaysing also built an adjoining single-story building, which for decades was a boot and shoe shop and a cigar factory. In 1899 Ubaldo Stoltz acquired both buildings, the larger property for Stoltz Supply House, his plumbing business. He replaced the smaller building in 1908 with a two-story commercial building and remodeled and extended the Main Street front to unify the two buildings. Both sides continued to be occupied by different businesses.

H.L. Rentchler Electrical Shop, a pioneering electrical contracting and appliance company, moved into the older section in 1917. Its successor in 1932 was Belleville Electric Company, which closed in 1959. A variety of businesses followed, with Lester Fischer's property management and real estate company and Youngstown of Belleville storm-door company being the most enduring in the 1960s and 70s.

The earliest known business on the new side of the building was a lunchroom, which was replaced in 1915 by Benjamin Rutz's cigar factory and tobacco shop. A series of lunchrooms followed beginning in 1946, including Bill Schrauth's Snack Bar, Meyer's Sandwich Shop, and, finally, Such Subs, which closed in 2006.

CeLeen's LLC, an information technology business, acquired the building in 2011 and occupied the second floor until 2021, while CeLeen's Gallery and Gifts sold art and fine crafts on the entire first floor from 2011 to 2014. Bridget Lybarger purchased the building in 2022 for her Absolute Chiropractic and Acupuncture and for
