Inscription.
The green space and children's play area that now surround this
stone, at one time served as a shaded school yard around the town's
high school. The "8th Street School" was built in 1882 and later
served as the local elementary school until its destruction
by fire in 1956.

Because of Mayor Brown's efforts in securing a state grant to rejuvenate this space, and because the Watsontown Borough Council wanted to pay tribute to the Mayor's community spirit and involvement, they felt it fitting and proper to name the park in his honor.

Mayor Brown served Watsontown as an active member of the:
West Branch Volunteer Fire Co. 1955-2009,
Watsontown Masonic Lodge #401 F&AM 1968-2009
Watsontown Lions Club 1981-2009
Life Member of the Clyde F. Mowrer American Legion Post #323
First Presbyterian Church, Elder
Watsontown Borough Council 1980-1984
Watsontown Mayor 1986-2009
