Smoke houses were used to smoke and cure ham and other pork products. The farm buildings on site, including the Smoke House, were built after 1847.

Slow cooking with smoke adds flavor and preserves the food for better storage.

Erected by French Azilum Historic Site, Endless Mountains Heritage Region, and PA Dept of Conservation and Natural Resources.
