Inscription. Danville’s booming tobacco and textile industries made fortunes for many residents. Wealthy businessman often built fine homes in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to display their prosperity. Because many of these mansions were located along Main Street, the area became known as “Millionaires’ Row”. Today, Millionaires’ Row continues to display some of the finest examples of Victorian and Edwardian architecture in Virginia.
