1. Sanibel Surry Marker
Inscription. This surrey was made by Smith Eggerts of Cincinnati, Ohio, sometime between 1890 & 1926.

A surrey like this might have been used on the island at the end of the 19th and early in the 20th centuries. The body is made of oak and poplar, and the wheels are made of seasoned hickory stock with rubber tires. The suspension used a combination of wood and steel leaf springs. Its total weight is 700 pounds.

The selling price new was between $60 and $70.
