Inscription.

(English translation:)
During the archaeological investigations, the remains of the foundations of the former old town bastion from the early 16th century were also uncovered. The hewn basalt blocks formed the basis for three rondelles and two square bastions. A wooden palisade in the moat fed by the Kinzig provided additional protection for the building.

Numerous stonemason's marks of the craftsmen working at the time were found on the stones. They were also involved in the construction of the old town hall in 1537-38.

The bench upon which the marker sits is seemingly made up of the hewn blocks of the foundation that was uncovered (or at least replicas). Note the visible stonemason marks on the middle block.
