1. William Moak Residence Marker

Inscription. This interesting and impressive brick and frame house was built in 1883 by William Moak, Sr., who was a local dairy farmer and horse breeder. In 1894 the home was described as one of the finest residences in the region. His son, William B. Moak, was an attorney and assisted in the Village of Tinley Park's incorporation and developing its initial ordinances in 1892. His daughter, Minnie Meak, was the wife of Dr. Charles W. Bishop, an early physician, community leader, and second Mayor of the Village of Tinley Park. She served as Postmaster of the Tinley Park Post Office from 1897 to 1906. In more recent years it has been owned by the late Paul Caliban and his family.

This residence is included in the 1972 Illinois Historic Structures Survey for places of architectural interest and importance in Illinois communities over 500 in population conducted by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency.
