1. Brown Family Homestead Marker
Inscription.
Site of the original homestead built in 1737 by John & Suzanne Brown. The land obtained through a grant from the King of England. The Browns started with approximately 1,000 acres of land. They had nine sons and as each married, was given a portion of land by his father. Browntown as we know it today, derives its name from the numerous families who for over a century held all the land in the vicinity.
