In memory of the gallant men who gave their lives on December 7, 1941 on the Battleship U.S.S. Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor Dedicated December 7, 1976
The Honorable Raul H. Castro, Governor of Arizona The contributions of thousands of school children, The Arizona Republic, many leaders of business and industry and patriotic citizens made this bicentennial memorial possible. The anchor (A-277) was forged in Chester, PA in 1911. Weight 19,555 pounds and has a full height of 14 feet. It was salvaged from the battleship after the attack.

Adams Street. The U.S.S. Arizona Arizona Monument is the first monument at the east end of Wesley Bolin Memorial Park. It is hard to miss. It is at the fork of West Washington Steet, 1600 West block. Adams Street is one-way westbound, Jefferson one-way east bound. Bear right on Adams, stay in the left lane. There is one entrance to the Park parking lot halfway down the plaza. You can't begin to sense the loss of life happening in a flash on December 7, 1941 until you walk around the monument with its memorial plaques. They have the name and rank of each young man lost. The U.S.S. Arizona was one ship lost that morning. This is one of many Pearl Harbor casualty lists across the nation. What is it that compels humankind to behave this way?
