The Caretakers and the Tenants
V. M. "Brownie" Moses and Vera Sapp Moses were business leaders and active citizens in Suwannee County from 1949 to 1990. They were well known in the livestock circles in Florida, having operated Moses Livestock Market in Branford for thirty years. In addition to the livestock business, they owned the Texaco service station and ice business in Branford and had extensive farming and cattle operations in Suwannee and Lafayette counties. Brownie Moses served as a member of the Branford Town Council twelve years. Vera Moses served in church, educational, and civic organizations in the community. Their greatest treasures were family, community, and the land.
We are caretakers and tenants, not owners. The land and its gifts belong to all and for all time.

In loving remembrance of Vera and Brownie Moses and their children Leona Wooley and Cregg Moses
In the 1800s, the ancestors of V. M. "Brownie" Moses and Vera Sapp Moses settled in the wilderness of the Suwannee River Valley. These pioneers cultivated crops, bred livestock, promoted timber, and established communities. Survival and prosperity depended on their vision and the gifts of the land. Generations of families have come and gone leaving trails in the wilderness. Still, the beauty and the natural abundance of the Suwannee River Valley wilderness flourish for all.
