Inscription.  German:

From 2007 till 2010, it was possible to excavate two of them in the West and the South. To discover a Northern gate seems impossible at the moment. The Situation in the East of the City proved to be completely different. At first in 2009,

but mainly from 2018-2021, massive rebuilding works took place in the east of Maximilian Street up to the neighboured Stern Place Here, the Archaeologists discovered the remains of a huge gate divided into three parts: the inner gate, the City Wall and the outer gate keep. In 2012, they also found the bridge pillars across the ditch before the City Wall.

At first, while crossing the Maximilian Street in 2009, walls of the inner gate were documented. In 2018 and 2019, Archaeology was able to uncover the remains of the eastern gate. It was never localized exactly before.

Even more interesting was the proof of the eastern gate keep, beyond the ditch. It was barely mentioned in rare historical

sources. In a small area of 10 m length with a square of 80 cm, two fundaments, completely undisturbed, appeared in the light of day. The precisely shaped material dates back to the fifteenth and sixteenth century. In 2020 the eastern end of the gate keep was found under the Stern Place.
