Alessandro Poerio di Napoli, soldato e poeta della libertà, morto di gloriose ferite nella difesa di Venezia del 1848-1849. Mostro per esempio sublime, come carità di patria, ne raccolga in un solo ideale, ispiri ad un concorde sacrificio i figli magnanimi.

English Translation:
Alessandro Poerio from Naples, soldier and poet of liberty, died from glorious wounds in the defense of Venice in 1848-1849. He showed as a sublime example how the charity of the homeland can gather all in a single ideal, inspire a united sacrifice in the noble sons.
