1. Wallace Hall Marker
Inscription.

On this site stood Wallace Hall, constructed in the early seventies and named for Florence Wallace, a faculty member in the Social Studies (later History) Department from 1938 until her retirement three decades later. Although she grew up close to campus and attended the Model School, she ultimately became a world traveler who enthusiastically shared her international perspective with students and community members until her death in 1980. Through her efforts, a 1954 national meeting of the Collegiate Council for the United Nations took place at Indiana State Teachers College and featured a speech by former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt.

Erected by Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

from IUP News, Foundation, IUP to Break Ground for Phase III of Residential Revival (2008):

"Wallace Hall was constructed in 1973 as a mirror image of Esch Hall and, like Esch, has served as a coeducational residential building. The facility was named in honor of Florence Wallace, a social studies professor at IUP from 1933 to 1964."
