1. Historical Findings at St. Kastor Marker
Inscription. During construction work at the site of the 2011 edition of the German Federal Horticultural Show at Koblenz, archeologists discovered a circumferential ditch of a Roman castellum dating to first century AD. Efforts to determine the location of this fort been going on for the last 150 years. It was only finally discovered through the show's preparations. It corresponds to the nucleus of Roman Koblenz. The discovery therefore calls attention to the historical significance of the basilica's surroundings as the location of the city's origins.Br>
