Regarding Cemetery Restored. Mary Mackenzie Mack oversaw the restoration of Grove Street Cemetery in 1937 - 1939, as part of a Works Progress Administration project funded as part of the New Deal. The restoration included the construction of a stone wall around the Cemetery, which remains standing.

The Marker is located upon a stone wall that was constructed as part of a New Deal WPA project, under the supervision of Danville educator Mary Mackenzie Mack.

While the preservation efforts of Mary Mack were crucial to the preservation of Grove Street Cemetery, she is buried in Green Hill Cemetery, also in Danville.
