1. Four Patriots of the American Revolution Marker
Inscription. In the Fall of 1777, five American soldiers were returning from Frankford to Camp Hill in Whitemarsh, seeking rest by a spring along the side of Old York Road near the seven-mile post in Branchtown they were betrayed. Four were slain. The fifth soldier escaped. The four were buried in the Old Lehman Field on Old York Road for 149 years, when on September 8, 1926, the remains were carefully gathered and re-buried here on September 18th, with full military honors.

This grave-site was given by St. Michael's Lutehran Church.

This stone first erected on Old York Road in 1840 by Russell Smith, was removed to this site in 1926. Eight small markers from that first grave are in the foundation of this historic marker.
