1 Tempio di Vesta
La cella circolare, posta su un podio e circondata da un portico di colonne, conservava all'interno il fuoco sacro che le vestali dovevano mantenere sempre acceso.
Nella regia (2), sede del rex sacrorum e del pontefice massimo, si conservava l'archivio della cittΰ. Al suo interno era un santuario dedicato a Marte e uno a Ops Consiva, dea dei raccolti. Accanto era il tempio di Vesta e la residenza delle sei vergini sacerdotesse. La casa delle vestali (3) era su due piani, con ambienti aperti su un cortile porticato decorato da numerose statue in onore delle vestali massime.
In the round cella, raised on a podium and surrounded by a portico with columns; there was a hearth holding the sacred flame, which the Vestal Virgins had to keep from going out.
The regia (2), home of the Rex Sacrorum and of the Pontifex Maximus, housed the city's archives. Inside there was a sanctuary dedicated to Mars and one dedicated to Ops Consiva, the Goddess of the Harvest. Next to the Temple of Vesta (3) was the residence of the six virgin priestesses, the House of the Vestals was on two floors, with rooms that opened onto a porticoed courtyard decorated with statues in honour of the chief vestals.

The Via Sacra, or Sacred Way, was the most important and symbolic street in ancient Rome, connecting significant landmarks in the Roman Forum. It was called "sacred" because it was the route used during religious processions and ceremonies. One of its most vital sites was the Temple of Vesta, which housed the Sacred Fire that had to remain perpetually alight.
