Inscription.
The baths measured 350×335 m. in some points, the internal spaces reached heights of almost 40 metres and were designed to accommodate many people at the same time, between 5-6,000 bathers per day. They were surrounded by large gardens, porticoes, meeting rooms, saunas, cold and hot pools and all that could possibly be required to pass the day in a splendid and gigantic health spa. There were terraces for sunbathing, luxurious latrines and also two libraries if one fancied reading. The Romans enjoyed spending the whole day here, while in the perfectly preserved basements, slaves and workers kept the huge system of furnaces and boilers running.

The Baths of Caracalla (Italian: Terme di Caracalla) in Rome, Italy, were the city's second largest Roman public baths, or thermae, after the Baths of Diocletian. The baths were likely built between AD 212 (or 211) and 216/217, during the reigns of emperors Septimius Severus and Caracalla. They were in operation until the 530s and then fell into disuse and ruin.(Submitted on January 28, 2025, by James Hulse of Medina, Texas.)
