1. Holstine House Marker

Inscription. Like Daniel Boone who blazed the Wilderness Road, other early pioneer families such as the Holstines were commissioned by the court to survey new routes to the west. As early as 1754 the family was farming on Craig's Creek and was one of the founding families of the community of New Castle.

This house, built by Henry Holstine, Jr. in the 1790s, shows fine craftsmanship in its construction. In addition to his vocation as a farmer and statesman, Henry was also a Methodist Episcopal minister.
