Erected in the year 2001 by descendants of Randolph County pioneer and Revolutionary War veteran Thomas Phillips, Sr. (1745-1810). Thomas, a founding trustee of the Town of Beverly (1790), is believed buried on his 1784 land grant between Elkins and Beverly.
