legitimate children of Madame de Montespan and de La Valli่re and other important French personalities, including P่re Lachaise.

He arrived in Luxembourg between 4 and 5 pm on 21 May 1687, where he was received by the Marquis Louis Fran็ois de Boufflers, later Marshal of France, in the presence of Vauban, at the Governor's Palace (the present-day Mansfeld building, seat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). There he also lodged and received the nobility from the surrounding area. On the first evening a great feast was celebrated in the city.

In the following days, the king inspected the fortifications in detail, accompanied by Vauban.

For his visit, the streets were cleaned, colorful lanterns were hung in the streets and designs with fleurs de lys were placed on public buildings. The city's sergeants received beautiful new uniforms and a well was erected on the Place d'Arem, from which wine flowed. At the end of the stay, there was a big fireworks display. In total, the city of Luxembourg spent around 1,500 livres on the visit.
