Inscription.
Ghost Tree Island got it's name because of the giant sycamores with the white bark.

The Marker is located on Ghost Tree Island along the Riverwalk Trail between Angler's Park and Dan Daniel Memorial Park. The closest building is the Danville Water Treatment Plant on Northside Drive. Regarding Ghost Tree Island. Ghost Tree Island is a small island in the Dan River that is crossed by Danville's Riverwalk Trail. The island is owned by the family of the late Therit Winstead, a former member of Danville City Council, who originally granted permission for the public Riverwalk Trail to cross upon his island.

This giant sycamore is called a ghost tree due to its white coloring that often gives off an eerie glow during the evening.
