Inscription. In 1889, the Centre Presbyterian Church formed to serve as a school and place of worship for the growing Elderville community. A burial site formed behind the church with charter members among the earliest interments. There were 12 graves by 1920. The field became a deeded cemetery sometime before 1940 with an association to oversee upkeep and host an annual cemetery homecoming. The Elderville Cemetery, now covering more than three acres, represents the history of the close-knit community. It contains the burials of prominent families, members of the church and community, leaders of industry and dozens of veterans.
