Inscription. The first ladies co-op was founded on this property by Mary Ann Gardner, the third wife of Robert Gardner, first mayor and bishop of St. George. Due to disunity caused by undercutting the town's men's mercantile prices, the co-op was disbanded and Mary Ann established a millinery shop where she sold merchandise to members of Brigham Young's family.
