History
Kura Agostini was formerly directly located on the bank of St. Anna Bay. It is named after a 19th century owner and consists of several buildings. A ‘kura’ is a lot with a mansion enclosed by outbuildings and a wall. This building is the oldest property of the Agostini premises and dates from the second quarter of the 18th century. The house was build for the widow Dorothea Brugman. Tradition has it that in 1835, on the occasion of the visit of Prince Willem Hendrik (a younger brother of Willem III, King of Holland), the attic was provided with a vaulted ceiling and served as a bedroom for the prince. The Curacaosche Courant from 1855 writes that on Friday 31st of July Prince Willem Hendrik dined at the house of custom officer de Larrey at de Rouvilleweg 7. In 1966 the Stichting Monumentenzorg Curacao bought the Kura and restored the buildings. During the restoration activities it turned out that this dwelling originally consisted of two separate houses.

Description
The building was constructed in the 18th century baroque architectural style. The richly ornamented dormer windows in the roof display the curved lines and curls that are characteristic of Curacao 18th century architecture. The yard in front of the building is still paved with the original coral stones.

Brugman, widow of Willem van Uytrecht, received a permit to build on this lot, which once bordered directly on the water. She soon completed a grand mansion in the prevalent Curacao Baroque style, known for its distinctive curved lines. Her daughter, Sijbrecht, inherited the property in 1778 and added several buildings. After being briefly owned by Charles August Barron de Larrey following 1819, his widow, Petronella Elisabeth Coerman, added a vaulted attic ceiling in building #11-13 in 1835, reportedly for the visits of Prince Willem Hendrik, a brother of King Willem III of the Netherlands.
