Robin Sue Harviel, age 70, died peacefully on May 7, 2017, at her home in Boise, after a brief struggle with cancer. Robin was born on March 28, 1947 in Clendenin, West Virginia, daughter of Sidney E. Goad and Trixy M. Peters.(Submitted on March 4, 2025, by Douglass Halvorsen of Klamath Falls, Oregon.)
Robin grew up happily in Clendenin, and after graduating from Herbert Hoover High School, she attended West Virginia University, where she was a sister in the Delta Gamma sorority. She met and married Anthony W. Cyrnak, and earned a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology. After raising two daughters, she worked as a counselor and director of an alternative high school in Virginia for more than a decade.
She was remarried to J. Duncan Harviel in 1989, and they moved to Boise in 1998. Since that time, Robin has worked at the Warm Springs Counseling Center, helping youth and adults through challenging times and personal struggles. She was known to all there as the "Fun Czar", championing playfulness and laughter as an important part of therapy. Her kindness, compassion, and beautiful smile will be missed by all who knew her.
Robin is survived by her brother, Francis A. Goad and his family, her two daughters, Jennifer Krolow and Claire Buck, 3 beautiful granddaughters, Grace, Beatrix, and Tabitha, and a number of other relatives and close friends.
