East End in Boise in Ada County, Idaho — The American West (Mountains)
Cynthia Mann
In Honor of Cynthia Mann who dedicated this block of land to help establish the Children’s Home Society of Idaho.
She expressed the philosophy that had guided her life in a letter to a friend shortly before her death in 1920:
Some want wealth and ease, some learning and culture, some music and poetry. I chose the latter; the music of children’s happy voices, and poetry of their lives; for as Longfellow says “They are living poems and all the rest are dead.” Am I not right when I say it should not be called a sacrifice when we get large returns?
