Harry Frank Guggenheim: Supporter of Aviation and Rocket Science

Harry Frank Guggenheim was a leader in sponsoring research in many aspects of aviation, rocketry and jet propulsion. He headed the Daniel Guggenheim Fund for the Promotion of Aeronautics, which engaged in a wide variety of aeronautical activities to advance the development of the aviation industry. The Fund helped establish a number of schools of aeronautical engineering, jet propulsion and aerospace propulsion sciences in leading American universities. As president of the Daniel and Florence Guggenheim Foundation, he provided sponsorship for much of the pioneering research of Dr. Robert H. Goddard, upon which all modern rocket and jet propulsion developments are based.
