1. Pine Hill Methodist Cemetery Marker
Inscription. In 1844, William Henderson Hillin established the Pine Hill community; over the next few years additional pioneers settled here, and soon this burial ground was established. The oldest marked grave here is of Wilson Sanders, dating to 1854. Veterans of military conflicts and civic leaders are among others interred. Cemetery features include vertical stones, obelisks and curbing. The Pine Hill community grew steadily through the 1800s. However, fires in 1916 and 1937, and the closing of a railroad through the town, led to Pine Hill's decline. Today, Pine Hill Methodist Cemetery continues to be a record of the early pioneering residents of a historic community.
