Inscription.  
Op deze plek is op 1 juli 1511 Hadrianus Junius als Adriaan de Jonghe geboren. Hij was een groot geleerde, humanist en medicus. In opdracht van de Staten van Holland en West-Friesland schreef hij de geschiedenis van Holland: de Batavia. Hij is in 1575 overleden in Arnemuiden en begraven in Middelburg. De tekst op de middenbalk boven stond al in de 17 eeuw op het toenmalige huis en verwijst naar zijn grote talenkennis.

(English translation:)
At this location on July 1, 1511 Hadrianus Junius was born as Adriaan de Jonghe. He was a great scholar, humanist and physician. Commissioned by the States of Holland and West-Friesland he wrote the history of Holland: de Batavia. He died in 1575 in Arnemuiden and was buried in Middelburg. The text on the middle bar above was already on the house in the 17th century and refers to his great knowledge of languages.
