Schuyler Flatts
Oldest Schuyler house in America. Erected prior to 1660. Rebuilt 1670 by Richard van Rensselaer member of the patroons family. Purchased in 1672 by Philip Pieterse Schuyler and owned by that family for more than two and a half centuries. Early home of Pieter Schuyler, first mayor of Albany. Famous center of colonial social and military life as residence of Col. Philip and Aunt Margaretta Schuyler. Described in Anne Grant's Memoirs of an American Lady. Lord Howe entertained here on way to Ticonderoga, 1758. Foundations believed to date from 1649.

This plaque was originally located at the Schuyler homestead which was destroyed by fire in 1962. It has been rededicated by the Historical Society of the Town of Colonie 2002
