Regarding Village of Oak Park. The 4.7-square-mile Village of Oak Park was originally part of Cicero Township. Around the turn of the 20th century, the communities of Oak Park, Berwyn and Austin, amid much complicated legal maneuvering, voted to split off from Cicero; the first two became their own municipalities, and Austin was annexed into Chicago. Oak Park was officially incorporated as a village on January 25, 1902.
