1. Welcome to the Casa Grande Neon Sign Park Marker

Inscription. The Park's opening in the Spring of 2019 includes 12 historic signs along with plaques detailing their significance. The Casa Grande Neon Sign Park neon on the marquee sign in front of you was repurposed from the "TOOLS" sign that was in front of the CO-OP building at Florence Boulevard and Pearl Road from 1976 until it was donated by Harbor Freight Tools in 2014. Only four of the original five panels are used here.

Special recognition to Marge Jantz, former Casa Grande Main Street director and chair of the City's Historic Preservation Commission who had the vision to save these local signs so they could be restored and displayed for all to enjoy. Marge, along with others, worked tirelessly to make sure the project received votes necessary to win $144,000 in grant money awarded by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Main Street America and American Express. This national award-winning neon sign park came in second out of 25 projects across the country. Marge solicited donations from individuals and businesses to make this project what you see today and to stretch the grant money as far as it would go. She addressed pole treatments for longevity, custom pedestals, a mascot and nostalgic signage. As a volunteer, Marge never receives compensation; the community receives the benefits. Marge and current Casa Grande Main Street Director Rina Rien should be commended.
