Inscription. Wiche joined WHAS radio and television in 1958 as a political reporter and news anchor until 1979 when he was named Farm and Garden Director. He became one of the areas most popular radio and television personalities broadcasting agricultural and horticultural news and information throughout the area. Wiche has continued to educate the community as "the weekend gardener" through his regular radio and television broadcasts, syndicated articles, lectures, garden tours, books, "The Fred Wiche Lawn and Garden Expo" and his unwaivering accessibility to the public. Everyone knows you can always "Ask Fred". Wiche and his family have lived in Simpsonville since 1979.
