Inscription.
This boulder is 112 rods east from the site of Fort Chanyaska, built during the Sioux Indian uprising 1862-65 by platoon under command of 1st. Lt. George Paton, Co. D, 9th Minn. Infantry, commanded by Captain Asgrim K. Skaro, stationed at Fort Fairmount.
 
Erected 1927 by South Galena and Chanyaska Farm Club, Daughters of the American Revolution Fairmont Chapter.
