Inscription.
Harriet Quimby (1873-1912) was the first licensed woman pilot in the United States, as well as the first woman to fly the English Channel.

A journalist by trade, her glamorous style and accounts of her aviation adventures captivated the public. On a trial flight from the Boston Light for the 1912 Squantum Aero Meet, she tragically perished when she fell from her plane just off Squantum Point.
