1. Great French Lick Marker
Inscription. In 1710, a French teacher from New Orleans had a trading post near the salt and sulfur spring which attracted game of all kinds. His successor was Charles Charleville, who died here in 1780, age 84. The spring was about 300 yards southwest; the trading post was on this spot.
