Autrefois appelé square du Mont-Cenis, ce jardin porte, depuis 2012, le nom de Claude Charpentier (1909-1995), architecte dont l'action fut déterminante dans l'élaboration de la loi Malraux (1962) avec la protection de secteurs sauvegardés Paris: Montmartre, les Halles, le Marais, les rives de Seine, le quartier Maubert. Il restaura le Bateau lavoir et construisit le Conservatoire de musique du 18^e arrondissement. Claude Charpentier était également contrebassiste et chef d'orchestre au Violon d'Ingres.

(Formerly known as Mont-Cenis Square, this garden has, since 2012, been named after Claude Charpentier (1909-1995), an architect whose work was instrumental in the development of the Malraux Law (1962) with the protection of protected areas in Paris: Montmartre, Les Halles, the Marais, the banks of the Seine, the Maubert district. He restored the Bateau Lavoir and built the Conservatoire de Musique in the 18th arrondissement. Claude Charpentier was also a double bass player and conductor at the Violon d'Ingres.)
