Sheep Pen Lock
From US 33, take the Rockbridge exit. Go straight until the first stop sign. Turn right and continue to Mill Street. Turn left, go over the train tracks, turn right onto Dupler Rd. You will see the canal on the left as you drive down Dupler Rd. Sheep Pen Lock will be found one mile east of Mill Rd.

Old Tavern
Pass by the home that was once a tavern serving the canal at Gallagher Ave & Main Street.

The small sealed door in the front was the actual door to the old tavern.

King Kitchen & Bath
The canal ran behind King Lumber/King Kitchen and Bath (formerly known as the Logan Woollen Mill) found at the intersection of SR 93 and Front Street. Mennel Milling (formerly known as Keynes Flour Mill) was built in 1855 and is located just west of the King building. The canal then ran east parallel to East Front Street behind current businesses and houses.

Old Town Creek Park
This small park is located on the south side of East Front Street. Here you will see a well-preserved Hocking Canal culvert foundation. The culvert took the canal over Old Town Creek.

Wright's Lock
Take US 33 southeast from Logan toward Athens. Take the New Straitsville SR 595/ CR 25 exit. At the stop sign, turn right toward Haydenville. In 500 feet, you'll see a small park on the left. Turn into the parking area and enjoy the park & lock.

Johnny Appleseed Lock
After leaving Wright's Lock, turn left and travel through Haydenville. Notice all the unique houses constructed of various styles of glazed brick, block, and tiles that were manufactured there in the 1870s -1890s. After the large Sawmiller operation on your right, you will continue one mile on. Other remnants of the canal are either not located on public land or are no longer recognizable. Several canals and locks were filled in due to safety concerns or to keep stagnant water from collecting.

The old Canal path runs between current US 33 and the train tracks between Haydenville and Nelsonville.
