Albany in Albany County, New York — The American Northeast (Mid-Atlantic)
Thirsty?
"This section of the park, just south of the original playground, was a destination for park visitors seeking refreshment. An elaborate octagonal pavilion housed a drinking fountain that catered to thirsty children from the adjacent playground. The Building stood on the slight rise to your left until it was removed in the early 1940s.
Those with cash could procure snacks and light meals at the Refectory. This Stick Style structure stood on the flat area in front of you. Both of these structures were built in the 1870s and served to enliven the park from the day it first opened.
