1. Neuhoff House Marker
Inscription. Henry Neuhoff (1870-1964) was born in Bavaria and immigrated to the U.S. in 1888. He came to Nashville in 1897 for the Centennial Exposition, where he sold his innovative pre-cooked boneless ham. By 1907, he owned this house, a market building next door, and meatpacking plant on the Cumberland River. This house mirrors the history of Germantown - the family residence until 1919, then a rental property, then vacant and finally restored in 1978, sparking the revival of the neighborhood.
