1. Flight 11 Marker
Inscription. The bench before you represents American Airlines Flight 11. A Boeing 767, it took off at 7:59 a.m. from Boston's Logan International Airport en route to Los Angeles with 92 people on board. At 8:46 a.m., it crashed into the North Tower of New York City's World Trade Center between floors 93 and 99, killing all on board. At 10:28 a.m., the North Tower collapsed. The artifact at the center of this Memorial was part of the 91st floor of that Tower, and stands here today as a tribute to all those who died that day and a symbol of our resolve to rebuild. We will Never Forget the events of that day, the victims and heroes of freedom who sacrificed to save the lives of countless others and who continue to serve today in the fire service, law enforcement and our armed forces.
