Burbank in Los Angeles County, California — The American West (Pacific Coastal)
Grangetto Winery
This Grangetto Winery sign was dug up when the owner who purchased a piece of the old winery property was digging for a swimming pool. Found in 1995, the sign had been buried for over 50 years.
John Grangetto was born in Italy in 1870. His family migrated to the area in the late 1800's. As a young man John pruchased sixty acres in Burbank from another pioneer named Edward A. Fisher. The land was located at the head of Scott Road. As the vineyard prospered he bought an additional 20 acres. Later, his sons Martin and John took over the family interests. The sign marked the entrance to the winery on Scott Road.
