As a gathering place, the Green once accommodated several churches, including Christ Episcopal Church (the Church of England). Can you find the ground plaque located 58 feet from this spot, which marks its original site? The First Congregational Church stood near the northeast corner of the Green and was reputedly the first meeting house in New England with a clock, bell, and tower.
