Inscription.
The son of Mrs. Palma Highland of Massillon, Forest Highland was killed when a grenade exploded in front of him while he was serving with the First Marine Division in Military Region I. Born in Clarksburg, West Virginia, he was a 1967 graduate of Washington High School and a member of the First Baptist Church. Prior to entering the Marines, “Rusty," as he was known by most people, was employed by Eaton Manufacturing in Massillon. Preceded in death by his father, Forest G. Highland, Sr., in 1965, he is buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in West Melford, West Virginia.
