Inscription.
This versatile, all-around skiff is known as a "bateau." With a flat bottom and a shallow draft, Ric was built for the protected waters of rivers and creeks. At the turn of the century, watermen used bateau like Ric throughout the seasons, trotlining for crabs, tonging for oysters, and gill netting fish.

Did you know?
• The Ric was built by Stanley Vansant in 1972.
• Ric is named after a sidekick in Gilbert Byron's "The Lord's Oysters." True to it's name, Ric has accompanied our buyboat Annie D on almost every trip down the Chester River since 1990. Ric is perfect for swimming, fishing, crabbing and progging the crannies of every little creek.
