Inscription.
Echo Hill also has two other floating outdoor classrooms, the historic Chesapeake workboats Spirit and Twilight. Spirit is a classic deadrise built by Stanley Vansant in 1944. She was acquired by Echo Hill in 1978. Twilight is a Potomac River Dory, launched in 1911 and owned by Echo Hill since 1983.

These vessels are equipped with charts, nets, and aquariums, inviting students to explore the bay and its many dimensions.

Did you know?
• Potomac River Dories were built in Southern Maryland, primarily for oystering on the lower Potomac.
• Traditionally, the sides of dories were painted with three stripes in green, red and yellow.

Spirit and Twilight are the workhorses of the School's fleet, providing Bay programs to Echo Hill students 10 months out of every year.

Erected by Echo Hill Outdoor School.
