1. Brickyards & Lime Kilns Marker
The Schroeder Brick & Lime Manufacturing Company was one of the earliest industries along the Minnesota River, dating from 1876. The bricks that built the town of Shakopee were made from red clay dug from the river bottoms.
You can see the remains of the lime kiln from the Schroeder Brick & Lime Manufacturing Company along the trail.

View of the lime manufacturing area as it looked around 1890. Piles of limestone were broken up and burned in the kiln to produce lime used in mortar and plaster.
