1. The Well House and Woodshed Marker

Inscription. To survive, settlers needed dependable sources of water and heat. Wells could be dug by hand, but they were later more likely to be drilled to greater depths. The well could also be used to store small quantities of perishables, such as milk or eggs. The woodshed houses tools associated with cutting and splitting firewood—wood for cooking needs to be seasoned and dried.
