1. The Sharbot Lake Hotel Marker

Inscription.
In 1888, the Kingston & Pembroke Railway built the Union Hotel on this site at the junction of the K&P and the CPR lines. The hotel catered to labourers, tourists and fishermen. When Herb and Millie Moyst purchased the hotel in 1946, it became known as the "fisherman's hotel" where guests could hire a guide and have their catch cooked by the lakeshore or in the hotel dining room.

The Moyst family succeeded in providing a "home away from home" for guests as well as a friendly workplace for many waitresses and guides. Four years after the Moysts sold the hotel, this landmark was razed by fire on January 29, 1974.
